My house got pelted with golfball sized hail. broke a window. damaged my siding. busted my patio furniture. unreal never been through hail like that before. lasted about 20 minutes of a st8 downpour.

  • Sounds like the storms we sometimes get here in Tornado Alley.. In March through May it is not unheard of to see softball size hail.. Golf Ball size hail is about a once or twice a year event here.

  • Just get ready for your Homeowners insurance to go up, thats all I can say. Everyone will get a new roof, and then they will start dropping you for coverage and jack the rates WAY up. Thats what happens here in Nebraska at least.

    Hi Chris
Sorry to hear this! Just glad everyone is OK. Now if you were in Tampa? I have never seen hail that size - if it ever happens, I may save a piece and scan it!
    Good luck on the cleanup.

  • I am in Lawrenceville, and we were unpacking the car to go into Discover Mills when the storm hit. The hail was between pea size and marble size. It was pretty incredible. I am a weather fanatic, and this is only the fourth or fifth time I have seen hail in my life. I was VERY happy to see it, and very glad that my car was under the parking garage. There should be some great "hail damaged" cars for sale soon. Think of all those car dealerships by Gwinnett Place Mall. Where do you live in Atlanta?

Must be something in the air. In 40+ years in LA I've seen hail 3 times, but on Friday night at 3am it was heavier than I've ever seen- anywhere. My deck had 2" covering it, as did the entire neighborhood. I thought we were having our monthly driveby shooting until I got up and looked out the window.
Spring training started today- spring can't be far off!

  • I've got one for ya!....about 12 yrs ago we had a hail storm in Orlando and it just so happened to be the day I bought a new truck and yep! you guessed it, the hail beat it to death. I bought it in the morning, took it to work later that day, parked it in the lot and around 6ish that afternoon, the hail came down the size of golf balls and TOTALED my new truck. It had 32 miles on it!

I called that morning to move my insurance over from my trade in to the new truck and called back that same day and happen to talk to the same insurance lady on the phone and she didn't believe me. Then the phone starting ringing off the hook from other claims in the area and she quickly changed her mind. After that, I never doubt what hail can and will do.
