Price of Walking Liberty Halves Coming Down?

Here's a notice posted at Whitlow about the subject:

Short Set WLH prices falling

  • This was posted a week or so ago. In fact, I emailed Mr. Printz regarding a Walker that I had in my possession seeking his opinion(s) before this supposed plummet takes place.

I wish the dealers I've been trying to buy from are aware of this. Prices were very
strong and supply was very tight at the last show I went to. I agree about crappy
    66's getting dumped, though.

  • I got an ms65 43-d back from pcgs a month or so ago. I thought I could get $350 easy, maybe $400. No one is bidding now on it at $285 on ebay image

I was getting ready to sell off my short set going back to 1935 of mostly MS65 & 66s, but not now. Will just lock them up for awhile.

Prices for WLH's were discounted heavily at FUN.

  • The prices on eBay are all over the place for walkers. Some of the larger dealers are not biting on giving things away and asking a premium and some seem to be dumping the suspect '65-'66 coins. The prices for the '41S, '42S, '43S & '44S do seem to be falling. I'll fill those spots when they fall more.

And yes... there are some very suspect '66 coins. TNFC is trying to sell a '36D in MS66 for the 2nd relisting starting at $795 and no one is biting. But, on the other side, I still haven't figured out what got into one seller who is attempting to sell a '37S(MS66) starting at $2500 and a '33S(MS65) starting at $3940. The '37S is $1600 more than I paid and doesn't even appear to be as good as mine.... and mine is somewhat suspect. image

    So, what's the reason(s)?image
  • PQ MS 65 Walkers seem like a bargain to me. People were stretching for 66s a year or two ago. Perhaps they wished for 67s? Anyway a nice common date Walker with a good strike and few marks on the leg in MS 65 seems like a good buy to me. If you can buy any for less than $150 it seems cheap. Well, I can't predict the future and they certianly could become cheaper... Anyway they are a beautiful design and really look good in gem.

I had heard that a very well known marketer that had pushed prices higher has since backed away.

Yeah, or maybe $200-$250. Ain't it nice of the pcgs price guide to list it at $425 so I would think $350 actually would be fair. (Yeah yeah, I know I shouldn't have even looked at the guide, just usually don't have ms65 Walkers to sell).
  • 50 % of guide is high unless its a wunder coin !

    Otherwise 30% is about right.

    127.50 is my guess
