Today's Canadian large cent buy...

I bought 12 1859 Canadian large cents today at the West Haven, CT show. Here is the best of the bunch 9/9 #2, that I believe would slab AU53-55, it has great lustre that my scanner can't capture. It also has die clash on obv, though very hard to see just about every dot of the rev inner ring and a couple of leaves can be seen. Only paid $125 for it. image

Nice one Gene. I think all of the DP#2 have the die clash between Vicky's hair and the beads.

Rob - This is the 1st one I've seen with the clash. I have 6 others and none of them have it.

Bill - not yet. I heard it's a new show. But have lost the directions and dates of it. Next show is this Sunday in Hartford. Usually lots of darkside there.

Icollect - of the others these two stand out:

I'm calling this one "ultra narrow 9". Shown in negative for detail, the lower edge of the loop and bottom right of the 9 are about half as thick as the normal narrow 9. There is also a die crack connecting the ball to the upper loop.

On this one the left side of the reverse die is shattered.

Gene - You're right. Two out of my three (including my sigline coin) have the clash, one does not. In my sigline coin I can see the clash pretty clearly from the A in Victoria around to the I in Gratia. - Rob
