WHats your best deal on ebay?

I was wondering what was your best deal ever on ebay? I really haven't had any good deals.

forum wont let me post pics right now for some reason or i'd show you. But I got a classic head cent with a horrible picture for cheap. Picture was almost black. When i got it in hand it looked damn neat AU. Went EF45 at ANACS.
  • many good buys but 2 recent coins were 1856-s 3 dollar gold bought raw for 550 dollars had it graded by anacs as vf 20...just sold on ebay last week for 722...2 was a 1875-s twenty cent piece with deep mirror fields, bought raw for 575...came back from anacs as 62.pl..struck from proof dies of that year and has high wire rims.looks like my 1875 pcgs proof of that year.

A Pan-Pac gold $1. Bought it as PCGS MS65, sent it in for regrade & it came back MS66! Sold it for about double what I paid.

Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.

  • 1976 lincoln pcgs pf69rd dcam total cost $224.00. I had bid 390.00 a week earlier on a different one and was out bid. This one had a bad pic and ended about ten in the morning.

  • A 1998 Platinum 1/10th Oz. Panda for only $70.00. The seller made a mistake in his BIN and forgot to put the 1 in front of the 70. However he said that it was his mistake and I agreed to purchase it for 70 so he solid it to me for that. I was quite happy. I'm hoping to have another 'decent' deal coming up in a little over an hour. From the pictures, it looks to be not too bad. (But there's a good chance I'll be sniped so I'm not counting it as mine quite yet).
I collect the elements on the periodic table, and some coins. I have a complete Roosevelt set, and am putting together a set of coins from 1880.
  • Over 3300% profit simply by buying right and holding for 4.5 years. Nothing
with the coin changed during that time - I bought it in a slab and sold it in
    the same slab.

  • Picked up a half roll of 34-D Peace $ for $160.00

When they arrived -- 6/7 of the 10 are VAM#4s and all are MS. Two of the remaining ones might be new VAMS or at least double dies.

All are going to NGC for walk through @ LB.

From what I've seen each VAM#4 coin should sell for $800-$1500.

  • A 1927 Saint Gaudens Raw, described as MS63+, got it for $342, which was a little over spot at the time. Sent it to PCGS and it came back a 65. image

  • 1878 Morgan REV or 79 VAM 203. Bought it in an ANACS 64 holder for $400 and it's now in a PCGS 65 holder. NGC has about a dozen in 64 with that VAM and none finer. Looking forward to when PCGS starts recognizing VAMs. image

  • my next one
  • It was probably about 3 years ago, I was top bidder on a NGC, MS-66, Red, 1909-s Lincoln cent. The person selling the coin, didn't supply an image for the coin, but I bid on the coin, sight unseen, anyway. I did ask the seller many questions about the coin, he had good feedback, so I figured "what the heck". My winning bid was around, $550.00, for this coin. When I received the coin, I couldn't believe how beautiful the coin was. The coin today retails for around $2,800.00, so I have to say this was probably my best Ebay deal.
  • Bought a raw morgan dollar the seller was selling as a MS 63 for $155. I got it slabbed and it came back a MS 64
and I sold it for $800.00.. Wish I could do that once a week..

I've had many, but my best was probably a clipped 1922 No D cent in an ANACS VF Details, Cleaned net Fine 12 holder. I got it for a $325 Buy It Now. The cleaning is very old and light, and by wear alone I'd grade it VF25. In Fine it's about a $900 coin now without the error. With the error I believe it is unique. image

Incomplete planchets wanted, especially Lincoln Cents & type coins.

  • I got a PCGS MS64 1911 $2.50 indain with buy it now for $1150.00 with free shipping. It was only listed for about 2 minutes.
  • In 1999 I won a 1889CC Morgan in an ACG holder, graded VG 8, paid about $350.
When it arrived I kept looking at the eagle's feathers and the details of the hair on the obverse, thinking
this coin has to be at least VF. I cracked it out and sent it to ANACS and it returned EF 45. That was a
    very good day for me!

I have had quite a few "modest" deals, that have made some money, but only a small handful have been quite healthy.

Paid $285.00 for this low mintage Barber half. It graded XF45 at PCGS and is worth $750 +
    1914 Barber Half

This one I picked up for $450.00 as an XF, and PCGS graded it VF35. Even with the downgrade, it would probably bring $900 or more on Ebay 1904-S VF35/XF40

For the money I have made on these two coins, I have lost double or triple buying "dogs" on Ebay and losing money. It has been very fun and even with some stinkers it has been worth it.

  • Two Conder tokens both bought unattributed, a Warwickshire 340bis, finer of two known, and a Shropshire 13bis, the discovery specimen and currently unique. Value isn't great, but find another one. Also the finest of the four known Inverness 6 tokens by about 15 points. (I think the number of Inverness 6 pieces will rise consideably though.)
