2005 Topps Heritage at Target Stores?

I have read many times on this board that Topps Heritage packs are subject to pack searching in retail stores such as Target? Is it possible to buy a retail case or box at Target or another retail store so that one doesn't have to worry about whether the pack was searched or not?

I have read that Target requires the boxes opened as they are put on the shelf.

I would think that stores like that sell sealed boxes, as well as packs
I would ask the store manager for a case, however you will most prolly pay full retail and tax. (unless you have a resale number)

    Good for you.

I have talked to the contractor for Target who is responsible for shipments and he told me that Target requires that all boxes be opened before they go on the shelf - perhaps see the manager and ask for a closed box as Steve had said.

But my recommendation - consider the closed - for sale by box only - booster boxes...they will have 11 packs for the price of 10 at 29.99 and definitely sealed. Plus, last year there was 1 SP/pack! I, like others, will report how the boxes pan out before you take the plunge. Walmart has their own brand of booster box. Toys-r-us has the same box as Target from my recollection. In San Antonio, Toys-r-us did not have an abundance of heritage but did the year before.

    Hope this helps

yes all target boxes that sell for packs are opened before the hit the shelves even though I have found some sealed. Target usually puts
the boxes in a holding are in the front of the store so that an assiciate can put them out. I have also seen an outside vendor come in
and put them out. If you are looking for a sealed box to put away then you really need to go to a wholesaler, if you want to make sure
that pack raper hasn't been through them then try to get them in the holding area and count the packs

Gemmy....part of the experience is gettin dirty, putting miles on your car searching and looking under the shelves to find that one pack.
If its all neat and pretty then you are losing some of the excitment. I suggest you buy a little of everything. I have pulled two arod
autos from packs that had been searched! Anything is possible!

    Go for it!

  • How common are decoy cards now? I sure as hell still don't see many in my sealed boxed I open. Upper deck claims to use them though I haven't seen many, and supposedly the Leaf 2005 sets have them. But then some decoy cards only give you the feel of a game used card, but still won't weigh more.
  • OK i haven't bought retail in ages (I bought most of my cards in the 1960's) What is "Pack searching" since
it seems to imply opening and putting back....

1967and 1973 Topps baseball wantlists (any condition) welcome. Once had the #14 ATF 1967 set. Yet another collector like skylaneflyer, gimel1 who made it to the completion of 1967 only to need the money more than the company of 609 close friends.
Looking for oddball Norm Cash and Cleon Jones stuff, and 1956 team cards

I was at the local Target last night, and saw some fat, sloppy loser searching all of the packs. I walked right towards him and was about to tell him what a low-life he was, but he ran! Actually ran - out of the store. Not the first time I have seen pack-searchers at Target, and the managers do not care when you point it out to them.

Edit to say - these were not Heritage packs, which I was hoping to get lucky and find...

There are a lot of posts for 2005 Topps. It is hard to keep up if its not all centralized.
