Good morning-this is not unusual in the 48-known for this do to impurity/metal flow. The deep abrupt spotting is typical of nt in the 48. Note the subtle change in color change. Not pronounced/prism effect found on at. Regards, John Curlis
i have several 1948-S that have a very soft, almost unperceptible blue/purple color which i believe to be genuine. whenever i see color that looks a bit too "electric" i always tend towards AT. i've seen the shades you have on these Jeffersons, with blue and purple seeming to dominate and coming most likely from being in Whitman/Dansco type folders for many years.
BTW, my opinion of the Appalachian Hoard is that they were AT, much like my opinion of the Marty Hoard and the PKOK Ikes.
