Hall of Fame Game Cooperstown, NY

Well, last night I went to Cooperstown to stand in line to buy the Hall of Fame Game tickets. If anyone doesnt know, its an exhibition Red Sox vs Tigers on Monday, May 23.
Me, a buddy of mine and his wife arrived in Cooperstown at 3:00 am. There were only about 10 claimed spots in line at that time. I would say up until 530-600 am, about 10-15 more spots every 20 minutes or so. Then it boomed at 630 am....it was a mob scene. The line was so long, we couldnt see the end of it! We estimated at least 2000 people for only a limited amount of tickets. 6 tickets per person max.
Of course, most people there were Boston fans. They came from Mass, Vermont, Connecticut and of course all around NY. Many Bostonians!
It was COLD! About 10 degrees. I stood in line the whole time. I put those sticky warmers on each thigh, my chest, and my back/shoulders. Then those hot pouches in my sneakers, each glove, each front pocket, and each back pocket....and I still barely kept warm enough!
Tickets didnt go on sale until 11:00 but they let us in the museum at 9:00. Then we were given braclets with our spot in line.
Finally, 11:00 am hits and tickets go on sale. After our purchase we go outside and there were people begging to buy tickets. For an exhibition game, I was quite suprised at what people were getting. I saw some trying to sell tickets at 100 bucks a pop...I dont know if they sold them or not but I did see quite a few exchange for 35-50 each. I unfortunately couldnt stick around...I had to get home to get some sleep and work my graveyard shift.
I'll refrain from telling if I sold any of my tickets :-) but I will say that I traded 2 tickets to a local guy for a mint 1983 Topps set (For some reason, just have that year missing so it worked out great!)
It was interesting to see this whole ticket thing for an exhibition game unfold. Especially when they could just go to Boston(or stay in Boston!) for not too much more money. And that is for a game that counts!
There is a parade and a mini home run derby between the two teams that day. It may be an easy day for autographs.
Anyway, I have 3 tickets left....anyone have a 1952 Topps Mantle PSA 10 they want to trade? HAHAHA
Just an experience some may enjoy reading about!
