O.k. I didn't make it to the Staten Island coin show today. I left too late with my dad around 11.00 A.M. The coin show started at 9.A.M.- 3P.M. We were on our way to staten Island in N.Y. but to there was to much traffic. So, me and my dad decided to turn around and go to a new coin shop that just opened this year. The coin shop was Nassau Rare Coins. We walked in and I saw a dealer that use to have another coin shop I used to go to just across the street but it closed down. I asked if he had any Liberty Seated Halves but he said they didn't get any in. So, I decided to look at some Morgan dollars because I'm getting to like them too. I decided on the 1884-CC GSA because I didn't own any Carson City coins and I always wanted a GSA CC coin. Well here she is.
Do you think the coin will grade at NGC or get a body bag for the scratch under the cheek? What would you grade the coin?

John,
I think NGC would be a good pick to grade your coin. I have an 1884CC GSA and they left it in the original holder which preserves its historical significance as being part of that hoard. I seriously doubt they would "body bag" this coin.
Mine graded at MS64 but mine isn't a VAM-2 like yours appears to be from your other thread you posted (you might want to mention the VAM when you send it).
Yeah, yours has a few minor abrasions, (leave it to the Government to screw something up), but you still got a great coin!!

Will NGC grade less than 5 of these at a time (in their original holders)?

I dunno steve, I bought mine pre-graded off eBay a while back. Good question...

I just called NGC and the coin CAN be graded individually in its original slab holder. They still offer their $99- membership where you get 5 free gradings. I think the Customer Service rep called it an "Early Bird" program.
Normally, If a coin was submitted seperately it would cost more than if five were submitted at one time. It also sounded like those who submit often have different pricing structures based on volumn.
Before submitting to NGC or any other TPG service, I would recommend giving them a call and talk to them firsthand and see if they grade the coin inside the GSA slab leaving it intact protecting its historical value.

Prolly a 63.
Submit it to NGC if you have to. They'll keep it in the historic GSA holder.

I'm just worried about the tiny thin scratches on the left side of her chin on the lower cheek. Would NGC bodybag this coin for those scratches?
