  • Cool! I remember when I first came upon a silver nickel. I was in high school (Mid-to-late '90s) and was getting some lunch money from my mother's change purse. I noticed a bunch of off-color nickels in there that just seemed 'different' to me. I asked if I could take those too and she said 'sure, I just got them in change'. Well, over the next few days I would check to see if she got any more and she did. I have about 20 different silver nickels now. I guess she must have been going someplace where they had a bunch of them. None of them are in any type of 'good' condition, but they're good enough to see the dates and mintmarks. That was a neat little surprise.
I collect the elements on the periodic table, and some coins. I have a complete Roosevelt set, and am putting together a set of coins from 1880.
