The US Women's National Team evolves from it's Ape Period on March 9 when competition begins in Portugal for the 12th annual Algarve Cup.
It will be the USWNT's first competiton since the retirement of head coach April Heinrichs and the team will face European squads Denmark, Finland and France in group play.
The USA is the defending Algarve Cup winner, but with the retirement of stars like Mia Hamm, Joy Fawcett and Julie Foudy they must start scrambling to fill the key positons these three veteran players had held for years.
Help will come in the person of youngsters like Heather O'Reilly and Lindsey Tarpley, and hopefully the return of veteran players Tiffeny Milbrett and Shannon MacMillan who had fallen from favor with coach Heinrichs.
Doesn't this stuff just make you all tingly?

It was originally gonna be a Stanley Cup update, but they say the Algarve Coast is lovely this time of year.
