An interesting 24-D Mercury Dime -- strike doubling or hub??

I've seen so many "longacre" kinds of doubling on Mercury Dimes that I almost dismissed this one...until I started to examine it more closely. I am not entirely sure it's strike doubling anymore. These pictures are kind lame (I think a scanner might be more appropriate for this purpose), but man I tell you -- you can see the doubling with the naked eye on this dime...and there is separation between the images and the second strike is raised at the same relief as the first strike.
The toning is kind of interesting on this coin also -- at first glance, even in hand, it looks AU for sure, especially if you only do a quick look at the features on liberty -- once you start examining it, though, there's no break in luster (what looks like wear on the photo) -- it's just toning and I guess a soft strike on Liberty? The reverse better demonstrates what I mean as it has no wear whatsoever and is actually quite nice Anyway, don't really care that much about the grade of this coin (AU or BU -- irrelevent).
So what do you think of the doubling -- which is it?? Thoughts??
...and here's the reverse, if you're curious

The coloration is odd. Seems like there is a residue over the coin.
