Nice suprise yesterday on a submission

I finally got one of those lightning fast turn arounds on a modern bulk submission. I usually check for my results like three times a day when I send in an order, but this time I figured I'd give it a couple weeks then start checking my usual three times a day. Well sometimes I'm bad about checking my e-mail when I'm not buying or selling stuff on ebay, so I didn't get PSA's e-mail that said the grades were up and the cards shipped. Yesterday when I got home from work there was a registered mail slip in the mail box. What a suprise! Of course I wasn't patient enough to wait to see the grades when I opened the cards. I logged onto the website as soon as I could. I got about what I expected including a couple of tough cards in PSA 9.

Mostly 1978 and 1979 Topps baseball...invoice below for those interested.

Great submission and quite a few 10's. What was the source of the cards? Did you crack wax or buy a set?
  • Nice order.

The cards came from a lot I bought last year. There were several cards still in vending boxes (opened), but there were quite a few cards in the collection with wax and gum stains so it looks like they came from a mixture of wax and vending. There were 40,000 cards from 1978 and 1979. Many are in sets. I'm trying to complete 20 raw sets from 1979 and 25 from 1978. I'm pretty close on the 1979's (150 cards away) but need to do some sorting on the 1978's. The submission was from some of the extras. I've sent in a few hundred cards now from the 1978's and 1979's and have gotten about 10% PSA 10's. I couldn't believe the overall quality of the cards. That was probably the last lot I'm going to submit from these cards. I'm going to try to complete the raw sets now and might sell each lot of sets when they are complete and move on to another project but I'm not sure yet.

Wow - grades posted in 2 days? What service level was this? Nice job!

Are these going to Ebay, any of them? I am interested in a few if you want to sell them.

40,000 cards. Amazing. Why so many sets?

I entered the 1979's in excel and sorted by the number of each card. There was a natural break at about 20 sets where I wouldn't have to search for too many extra cards. I'm still working on sorting the 1978's, but there were more cards so I'm hoping to be able to put together about 25 sets without having to buy too many extras to fill the holes.

I never really collected 78's or 79's before I bought the lot so it is kinda fun to go through them. I think I definately prefer the 1978's though. I've got most of the stars in PSA 9 from both sets and have sold all of the 10's. Its been fun.

Most of the stars are available as well as the PSA 10's. I'll probably list the stars and 10's on ebay.

Collector of Vintage Golf cards! Let me know what you might have.
  • I'm still waiting on mine too. 6 stinking cards. You would think it only
takes about 20 seconds per card to grade. Therefore, my order should of
been done under 3 minutes. image
