1909-S PCGS MS65RD Lincoln - Opinions please

I would appreciate your thoughts on this:

What do you think about the coin, and is the $975 opening bid reasonable? I think the coin looks like a solid 65 from what I can tell from the pics, though the "redness" has been enhanced in the pics, I believe. I'd appreciate any comments/thoughts.

Thanks!

Mike

P.S. I'm tempted to bid, but not BIN.

    Mike,

First, "what am I doing awake at 4:00am"

The coin looks very clean for the grade, minimal marks, but the coin may have a little mellowing of brown in splotches. Hard to tell with his photo's, as it looks like he turned up the red on the photo contrast. (Possibly done to soften the browning??)
  • I like it for 65 but I agree the white balance looks a little shifted towards red.
The coin will probably look yellow to orange in hand. Looks like an S/-horS too image

It has a partial fingerprint on the reverse to the left of the "O" in ONE. Hopefully it's really something on the slab but I don't think so. image

Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.

  • I don't like it when the seller does not show the full slab. I would wait for a better 09 S.

The pictures stink....Looks like he used the Christmas tree for lighting. On a 1000.00 coin, I'd ask for better pics. I don't care to be surprised by a cents color when I open the package. I'd like to see it first.....JMO
