1878P 8TF Morgan

I'm trying to identify a heavily circulated and cleaned 1878P 8TF. It was very cheap. There are too many VAMs for this year/mint, so I'm taking baby steps. I'm starting with identifying the reverse.
Does this look like an A1f reverse? If yes, does than limit it to VAMs 11, 12, 16, and 17? If no, what does it look like? Thanks.

Yes, It is the A1F reverse.
If there is a die gouge in the bottom loop of the 8, it is likely the 17
If there is strong doubling in the left stars, it is the 16
If there is a blob under the eyelid, it is the VAM12. There is no VAM11.

  • Thanks Ash. I see a die gouge inside the lower loop of the first 8 on the left side. Looks like a 17. Thanks for saving me a few hours!
