Is there a demand for p1 certified coins?

I have a 1917 and a1920 WLH that has to come very close and was going to submit them just to see if I could get this prestigious grade but is there a demand for them? A while back I know there was a competition to get some dollars in a p1 holder.

  • I presume you mean PO01..and to some, coins in this grade is just garbage..but to some, it's the ultimate example that a coin has performed it's purpose and may carry a premium...I think Poor 1 coins are as sweet as they come!image

As a Morgan dollar collector I consider it important to have an example of the ultimate low grade. I would imagine people who collect other series would have a similar appreciation.

Besides, getting a coin that is problem-free enough to go into a Poor-01 holder is incredibly hard to do!
    When in doubt, don't.
  • I think was thinking it might be just as hard to get this grade as an ms70. After looking at the coins again, they just might not make the grade but like you say, it would be a nice piece to have in a collection.
  • I'll make a loose judgement and say that most collectors would be willing to paymore of a premium for a PO01 coin as opposed to a MS70. I may be wrong, but that's my opinion

A Poor-01 is attainable in many series, but an MS70 doesn't exist in most.

The two coins are pure junk. Melt them.

The only PO01 coins worth chasing are those rarely seen below XF. They have novelty value.

  • Poor 01 coins are great. Makes for a great conversation starter.
I own one and would not dream of getting rid of it. (The fact that
    I can't afford a Fair-02 is irrelevant!image )
