Me want this bad boy. Believe it or not it is a British Conder Token not a US issue. John Gregory Hancock ( British Die Maker ) sent 1500 of this variety and 1500 of another variety with a smaller eagle over to the US to try to get a coinage contract. He failed, Washington said he would not abide his portrait on coins, as he "is not King".

Any copper that old with that much red is one I can appreciate. Any colonialists know the value? I would think a few thousand given the amount of remaining red.

Yes, it will be in the thousands. If it wasn't for the portrait of Washington on it though, a Conder with that kind of mintage and condition would typically only sell for somewhere between $200 and $500. And if the mintage was only a little higher then maybe $100.

It will sell for $10,500 to someone who thinks its the finest known.

Last I looked it had a $9,000 bid at Superior's Website.
