Airtight holders

Anyone know if these are any good? I have many raw morgan uncs and wish to take them out of the Dansco's so they will fit in a 3X5 Bank box. Also where on the web can I buy them. Thanks

  • airtites are fine, imo. i prefer the "direct fit" type, over the "ring type".

i picked up mine from www.air-tites.com. for a set of silver rounds/bars i wanted to store/display/handle, and have had no problems. they even had a size for a 5oz. round, nice selection, and now for most U.S. coins as well.

*edit* the break down at 100ct is .35.

  • I like them very much. I'm partial to the ringed holders as opposed to the direct fit.

I like them - no preference on ringed vs direct fit. Some of the darkside coins I have won't fit in any direct fit holder.

I have also used the mounting boards to put them in one of their storage boxes. Not a perfect system, but it works for me and is inexpensive.

I love airtites. You can buy them at JP's corner for a great price and there are nice holders and albums for them. I like them because they prevent toning and are about the only thing other than slabs that can protect proofs. I too am partial to the ringed type. Many colors exist too!

  • I love the air-tites. My entire 1880 collection is being housed in them. I'm partial to the ring holders since I like how the black sharply contrasts the gold in the gold coins. The only problem is that once they're in the airtite, it's dang near impossible to get them out without tearing apart a fingernail. lol.
I collect the elements on the periodic table, and some coins. I have a complete Roosevelt set, and am putting together a set of coins from 1880.

This may be dumb but why not just put them in a plastic coin roll. that's where all my silver dollars are regardless of the type. They've been there for many many, years.

  • If you frequent your coins and they are uncs, coin rollers in my opinion can be hard on your coins.

Thanks for all your feedback. I have purchaced the direct fit types will see how it goes.
