prolly around $450. I would wait a spell for all the disgruntleds to settle down, maybe they can be had cheaper.

    I'm gruntled, but I haven't opened a pack yet.

And Thurman will never get in. He's overshadowed by the likes of Puckett, Fisk, Sandberg, and Joe Morgan.

  • I am interested too. Does anybody know what Factory (Wholesale) cost was for a case?
  • Wait until the hype for this modern stuff subsides and I think you will be able to get a case for undr $300. Topps ain't stupid and I am sure they made a lot more cards compared to previous years.
  • I purchased a case for $445.09, delivered, this year.

From what I've heard, Topps direct, at least to two of the dealers I know, was $350/case for hobby. I paid $400 for my cases of retail, hobby was anywhere from $480-520.

envoy98, why was Retail ($400) less than Hobby ($480-520)? Are there less cards in the Retail version vs. the Hobby version? Does Topps Direct mean Wholesale? Please explain. I am so confused image

Topps direct, means they go directly to Topps to get the cases. Most people (myself included) have to go through a wholesaler or distributor of some kind to get our cases. If you have a shop (store front) you can set up an account with the major card companies directly and save the middle man cost.

    **Edited to add:**
As far as why retail is cheaper, I posted a link on the other thread for you, there is also a thread specifically describing this that another member started.

This year, as it turns out, the retail is probably the best buy, at least IMO. The booster boxes we'll see about. I'm hopeful though.

To help alleviate any confustion, there are 3 main methods of Topps Heritage distribution. Hobby-your typical hobby shop, usually higher priced, better odds (hobby exclusive bonuses)...

Retail-Pre-Priced @ 2.99, always opened before they put it on the shelves, more subject to pack searchers (though somewhat pointless)

Booster Boxes-(sometimes referred to as blister packs (not technically a correct term) also referred to as blaster boxes as well. They look similar to the "variety" packs you'll see sometimes, they almost look like a sealed hobby box. For Heritage, it's 11 packs for 29.99 and sold only as a sealed box. Advantage last year was the amount of sp's you got. There was at least 1 "hit" card per pack. Most of these sold for $3-5 and with an investment of 2.72/pk it was a win-win situation. Fill sets, sell sp's and trade stacks of singles. Quite the deal we had, lets hope we weren't just spoiled.

Hope that clears up some of the confusion. there's lots of good resources on the boards right now.

There are a lot of posts for 2005 Topps. It is hard to keep up if its not all centralized.

retail in the long run is the most expensive in the beginning..72 plus tax is very costly, especially when you don't know who has been
    through it.
