Still playing with Xmas camera: 1941 Jeff proof toner

Frustrating trial and error ... still a bit harsh and darn if I don't know what causes those grey "spots" on obverse ... not on coin.

    Thats a nice shot that acurately captures the toning. Try adjusting the f stop and white balance and you should be good on the shot. If you use a sceen between the light source and the coin the glare across the slab will even out. You can use a sheet of printer paper in a pinch. Optimally, you will need to light the subject from multiple positions. Again a screen helps cut down on the glare but the shadows will disappear.

    RGL, the only thing I can think of is that the plastic face over the obverse has some flaws in it to produce the shadows. Minute air bubbles maybe? image
