1889 High 9 Morgan Question

I am going to a local coin auction soon and they have a 1889 High 9 Morgan listed. My variety
book doesn't list this one. Can anyone provide a picture and give me some info on rarity and
value? Thanks for any help.image

There is a similar one for an 1889 CC. It is VAM 2 and is common.

  • Got to the following link and scroll to find a picture of the 1889 P VAM 32 Very Far Date, High 9 posted on the website by Mr. Leroy Van Allen. Be patient for the photos to open as there are dozens of new updates by Mr. Van Allen. image

The VAM Encyclopedia 4th Edition also by Van Allen and Mallis, show photos of VAMs 7 and 8 with high 9's on page 295 as well. There was an indication of an updated VAM-7A at the VAMLINK.com Website as well. If you don't have the VAM Encyclopedia, PM me and I will try to describe them further.

With the 1889 P VAMS 7 and 8 per the VAM Encyclopedia, out of an interest factor scale of 5, these two were a 2. On a rarity scale of 8, these were indicated at a 3.

I didn't notice the high 9 variety on the Top 100 or Hot 50 lists. The overall value depends on the coin's grade and your desire to have the coin.

If I only had a dollar for every VAM I have...err...nevermind...I do!! image
