That is a beeeauuutiful card! image

SMR doesn't list the set at all. According to the 2005 Krause Standard Catalog, the card is $5,000 in NM, $2,000 in EX and $1,000 in VG. You can throw that out the window though on a card like this.

According to the PSA Pop Report, 10 total N300 Ansons have been graded with 4 PSA 1/2s, 3 PSA 3/4s 1 PSA 5, 1 PSA 6 and 1 PSA 7.

  • Looks trimmed.
  • Why do you think it's trimmed? Isn't it PSA's job to identify it as trimmed?

    The Anson its not trimmed.

it has honest wear around all edges and its graded properly as a PSA 2,

This is one of those cards I want to own some day. Sometimes I think of selling all my junky modern stuff, consolidate and buy just a handful of nice ancients. So I watch for these Mayos and other key 19th century/pre-Goudey stuff. A raw Anson like that, which is actually pretty nice looking for the grade, typically goes about $1000-1300. A PSA slab definitely earns a premium because they are very likely candidates for color retouching and other "enhancements" that would detract greatly from the value. While I would be hard pressed to go $1900 on it, it's still well within reason to have that as an asking price.

I can't imagine what the PSA 7 looks like. Or what it would sell for. Five figures easily.
    WANTED:
2005 Origins Old Judge Brown #/20 and Black 1/1s, 2000 Ultimate Victory Gold #/25
2004 UD Legends Bake McBride autos & parallels, and 1974 Topps #601 PSA 9
Rare Grady Sizemore parallels, printing plates, autographs

    Nothing on ebay

    This is sound thinking.

If I sold all my junky modern stuff, which constitutes a dozen 5000 count boxes, assorted collated sets, etc. I would probably be able to buy dinner for 2 at a moderate restaurant.

Today's junky modern stuff is tomorrow's Cap Anson treasures.
