K-549 FIELD MARSHAL FEDOR VON BOCK, 1942, Cast AE, 101.1mm, Wt.273.50, edge-punched, R, VZ.
Commemorating his victorious battle of encirclement against the Russians at Kharkov, May 22-27, 1942 (and NOT July as shown on the medal). When the battle was over the statistics read as: 240,000 Russian prisoners or war, 2026 Russian guns and 1,249 Russian tanks captured, 540 planes destroyed. German losses were approximately 20,000 soldiers.
Obverse: Von Bock in uniform, bust left with inscription “General Field Marshal Fedor Von Bock.”
Reverse: German soldier binding POW Russian Bear.
