auction time span for combined S/H??

Wondered what thought folks had about combined S/H timespan??

I have a buyer who won some auctions two days ago, and just bid on some items I put on ebay last night. In theory, he could win auctions ten or more days apart( I list something almost everyday), is that too long for combined S/H??

How many days apart do you think someone can win an auction to get combined S/H??

I put 24 hours in my auction so there is no dispute but I think 10 days is WAY too long to expect combined shipping or anything like that. He should PAY for the auction he already won in my opinion.
  • You might do one of two things (probably a lot more options too!)....send an email asking the buyer if they'd like to hold off on shipping the first auction wins in case they win the second set....OR send the buyers first auction wins without concern about possible second auction wins. There really isn't a guarantee they'd win the second set anyway. I actually had one seller ask me if I wanted to hold out until other auctions ran their course. I said yes thinking that I'd win again. Turns out I did, saved some $$ on shipping. Just so happens the seller had higher than normal shipping rates for single cards.
I guess it all depends on how busy you are or how many auctions you have going on. That might make your decision easier.
    My opinion..

Edit: I won those auctions LESS than 10 days apart, something closer to 3 or 4.

ALWAYS spell out in fine detail all the aspects of your auction, otherwise you will have the BOZO who wants to combine shipping over 10 days.

As a buyer I have waited a day or two for other auctions from the same seller to end with the thought of saving on combined S/H. No one has ever complained...........assuming I made one PAYPAL payment if that was the case.

Some sellers will specify only combined S/H on auctions won on the same day.

I have never dealt with it as a seller since I only sell once a month.

  • I don't get people asking me about combined S/H very often, so I was stupid and didn't put anything in there about 3 days. The buyer has 99%, would have been a 100 except one guy gave him 9 negatives, buyer claimed sickness.

Guess I should go back and revise all my auctions for combined S/H time frames.

  • As long as they have not paid already, if they express interest in other items I will hold them and combine them. I had one get mad at me a few months ago because he bought a card paid with Paypal the next day then 4 days later he won something else and wanted me to combine. I had done shipped the item.

  • Three days seems reasonable to me. I do not recall having ever waited longer than that to pay for multiple wins. I figure shipping costs into my bids anyways. If a sellers shipping costs go up, than my max bids go down.
  • I have an auction ending tonight. After the close of that auction, I will see what the buyer says. Maybe I shouldn't allow combined S/H?? Anyone against doing combined S/H?????

I personally dislike when someone doesn't offer combined shipping. You don't have to give it away but $1 per extra card or something is reasonable.
  • I figured most people would want combined S/H. Right now, I have a lot of 100ct or so non-sports sets on ebay. So an extra 100 or 200 cards can make a $3 or more difference, compared to 100 card.

Should I go back and revise all my items to reflect a time limit for S/H? I don't like to revise an item unless something is really really wrong.

  • I would let the buyer decide if he wanted to wait for the other auctions to end or wanted the already won items shipped first. If the buyer wants to wait it could be good for you. He will have more incentive to bid higher because his shipping costs are lower and you only have to pack and ship one item not two. I do combine shipping without a time limit, If they want to wait it is better for me.
