  • Thanks Guys!!

I was a 2 1/2 year journey, to get to 100%, but I'll still continue to upgrade and buy nice 53's when I find them. What can I say, I'm addicted. The last 2 cards I obtained were the #105 Nuxhall and the #260 Calderon. Two tough cards that seem to be on everyone's wantlist. And of course it was another registry member who was kind enough to trade me those last two cards.

In fact, over the years I have probably either bought from, sold to or traded with almost every other 53 registry member. And if I haven't, I've probably at least emailed or talked with them. I'm also glad I've been able to spark more interest in the set by sharing stories and posting scans of all my cards, and trying to help answer questions for all new collectors.

Specific thanks go out to set registry members Wildcat, Joe N., Dav, Gary Hughes, David Suraci, and Grandpa's cards who helped me make the final push by working trades with me. Also, great dealers like Andy Madec, Chris Porter, Levi and Brian Drent who not only provide knowledge and cards, but fun people to BS with at shows!

    Thanks!

Congrats...quite a feat for any set collector to go 100% complete...especially one as tough as this.

  • Bob,

I'll probably lay low for a little while and continue to play with the Red Man issues. Next up will be some pre-war stuff.

It is a great set. Nice job.
  • Hey Bruce (53kid), Congrats on a truely impressive set. Although my focus these past months have been on my 1956 Topps set, I am grateful to you for getting me started on the beautiful 1953 Topps set. I believe that this set is a winner in any grade (mine is PSA 5/6), but to do this set in the GPA that you have is totally awesome. Good luck with any upgrades that you might have in mind and also with any new adventures that are on the horizon. I can't think of many others that deserve a big pat on the back like you. You not only reached the top of the mountian with class and style, you have also been a great source of info and insight to all of us other collectors. I hope to see you at the Fort. Your friend always, Neil

I just happen to look over at the set registry, not only is his set 100% complete, it is almost all 8's with at least one 9. Every card also has a scan!! Unbelievable!!!!!!!!!image It is definately worth a look. image One of the most beautiful sets in it's high grade form. What an accomplishment!!!!!
  • Neil,

Thanks for the nice words. I'm always looking to recruit more 53 collectors and was happy to get you addicted. Now finish up those 56's so you can get back to the 53s!

    Ripublican,

Gonna have the scans! There's nothing like looking at the scans when you are bored at work. I usually try to attach scans for all my sets.

    Thanks!
