It is not darkside, but 1958 was the demise of the wheat-back U.S. small cent. I very much prefer that reverse to the current memorial reverse. The wheat reverse has certain classical elegance, especially in the large lettering.

Honestly, that is all I was ever able to think about when I saw that design. Maybe it's because the torch (sans flame) looks so much like a cake cone from Dairy Queen.

I can just picture some lady running along, and then whooosh! Cherry Vanilla, all over her dress! Boy, is she gonna be pissed!
