What would PCGS grade this draped bust half.

    think the rim indentions could be from a bezel like it was a necklace at one time?

    VG8 pointed 6, stem not through claw. No way a fine.

    I agree with DNADave. That is unless they bodybag it for cleaning.

  • It looks like a perfect example of a VG8 grade. One of the grading keys in the lower grades is the detail in the tail feathers. On a VG8 coin the feathers are basically smooth. A F12 coin has about 1/3 of the tail feather detail.

    I don't know if PCGS will slab this coin or not. They do give some leeway to the rims/edges on lower grade draped bust coins and this one is a maybe yes/maybe no one.

    heck i,ve seen pcgs slabbed ones that looked a hell of a lot more cleaned than that one.
    i think you must conceed the fact that 99% of these were cleaned somehow at some point.
    question is how much and how severely.
