05 Diamond Kings vs. Topps Heritage

You knew this thread was coming.

I've had alot of buyers requesting cards from these two new sets, but these buyers don't want to buy boxes themselves. So I was thinking about breaking open several boxes and selling their entire contents (limited cards mostly individually, some lots for the more common). I'm looking more to please my buyers more than make instant money, but I'm thinking the Diamond Kings boxes would yield the cards with better resale value on average in the next few weeks. So unless someone changes my mind, that's the way I'll be going.

I've probably had a bit more requests for the heritage than donruss, so that is making the decision more difficult.

By the way, anyone know when Beckett might add these cards to their new release price guides?

i opened a box of diamond kings and i will lose 45$ after putting it up on the ebay. i got a richie sexson bat card /200 and a kerry wood dual jersey /50 not what i expected not one other #d card in the box. its hit or miss and i say out of a 32 box case there will be 6 good boxes the rest crud.

as far as heritage goes i think you can come out at least even each time or close to it just off the sp's sales. then a luck auto or black refractor hit.
  • I agree with Kuhlman, I love the DK cards. I feel you make out better individually with the Heritage cards, now DK is great if you make the hit but it is a very big lottery with them

I added 7 more boxes of Heritage to my arsenal today and one box of DK. Guy at the shop ripped a box of DK in front of me (after I bought my box) and pulled a Killebrew auto/bat/jsy #/50 (Mojo, since I live in MN) and a 1/1 Ivan Rodriguez dual patch. (Marlins & Rangers) my box however, yielded a ben sheets dual jsy/bat #/100 and a John Olerud dual jsy/bat #/200. Can you say completely different boxes?
  • Thanks, I'm not a gambler, think I will go with Heritage even with Topps' lies.
  • With DK you get 2 1/1's in a 32 box case so odds of getting those lottery picks are slim and none.

Heritage is a much better buy. DK was very good last year but playoff just loaded it up with garbage this year. The 1/1's
that they made relatively easy to hit last year, is now old news. The commons don't sell for squat on ebay so you won't
get any money back 9 out of 10 times.
