Suspicious Bidding Activity: petertas

-This bidder has 0 feedback and is a new eBay member as of Feb 7th of this month.
-Is currently bidding on 226 different items.
-Is the high bidder on 161 of them.
-Also happens to be the current high bidder on 4 of my items.

Should I be concerned about this? Ive already sent him an email asking whats going on, and explained that if I dont get a response I will cancel his bids on my auctions. Am I being overly sensitive here?

He won an item on the 10th and has yet to get feedback so that rules out PayPal. I would likely cancle his bid if he dosn't have nay feedback by tom.
  • Thanks AI! image

I don't think a new account having lots of bids is suspicious in itself. It's easy to imagine a veteran eBayer, maybe even a bricks-and-mortar dealer, starting a new account just for buying up cards on eBay.

Now, if all those bids were on the same seller, that would be suspicious.
  • I would say ride it out and see what happens. If nothing else he might drive some of your items up in price.
Running an Ebay store sure takes a lot more time than a person would think!

I just took a quick look and his bidding seems consistent (i.e. tons of cards from the 70's) so maybe he just joined Ebay and is going BIG! Maybe he won the lotto or something!?
  • how can you see what someone else is bidding on?? Is there a link from the feedback page I don't know about?

  • Go the the ebay site map and look for "search for members". Once there you can look up bidders or sellers. Personally when I first joined ebay I went on a huge binge buying spree. Bought a bunch of worthless crap, but this guy may just be thrilled to have found the mother load. Let it go. His bidding pattern does not look like a scammer to me.
  • When I got "into" cards in my third or fourth childhood last spring, I purchased something like a 100 items right away, too.

  • Say Winfield31, I think you have the wrong URL to your E-Bay Site. When I clicked the 4 on your post it took me to my own E-Bay Site.
