From 'Yahoo News'

"A young punk who tried to mug an 88-year-old picked the wrong man --
his intended victim turned out to be a former boxing champion who
knocked the attacker out cold.

"I was visiting a friend's grave when a young, long-haired man came
up to me and demanded I hand over my money," said granddad Gerhard Brinkmann of Halberstadt, Germany, who was the country's top lightweight boxer in 1936.

"I told him to come closer if he wanted it and, as he did, I landed a
full-force right hook on his chin.""

One word describes this event: JUSTICE!

I would've paid heavily to have witnessed this!!!!! Bobimage

  • The punk got his due. Unfortunately, if it happened here, the 88 year old would probably have ended up in court and taken to the cleaners.

The ACLU would more than like have been the first in line crying about the rights of the victim.

I believe "we have the government we have" is that the voting public wanted it that way. The ACLU does in fact throw reason to the curb on certain cases to defend (not win) a case/uphold a perceived right.

I don't know the poster so I can't agree or disagree with this, but maybe, just maybe, he was making a joke.

<< <i>It's no wonder we have the government we have. >>

I assume that this is your way of saying that the poster is an idiot, and that we have a government that only idiots would like. If that's not what you meant, then you should be aware that that's what it sounds like; if that is what you meant, then please go away, go far away, and do not darken these boards again. There are probably boards designed for posting juvenile insults that you could find.

<< <i>Next time please keep your hatred of America to yourself. >>

By this I assume you mean that "hatred of the ACLU" = "hatred of civil liberties" = "hatred of America". This syllogism depends more on assumptions than any identifiable logic, and taken together with your prior sentence actually makes no sense at all.

What an absolutely ridiculous, unfounded pile of you know what to try and throw.

Next time, think about what you are typing before you open your mouth and put your foot squarely in it.

The ACLU isn't always doing things perfectly, but to try and drag their name through the mud saying they'd defend this guy is absurd.

    Attention pebblyjack and all others:

You are henceforward advised to refrain from posting anything on these message boards that is, or might appear to be, a "joke".

Until the authorities have completed their search for skigropple's sense of humor, and paramedics are able to use the "jaws of life" to release Axtell from the knot his panties are in, we believe that serious harm may come to these individuals as the result of any further "jokes". The ACLU has advised us that both lacking a sense of humor and having chronically constricted panties are each "disabilities" within the meaning of the Americans with Disabilities Act, and any further "joking" on these boards could be actionable under Federal Law.

    That is all.

Funny that you don't call the guy who started this whole mess...had he been joking (which obviously he wasn't) he sure did a bad job in getting his joke across.

If you have an issue with me and my views, send me a PM...would have no problem discussing them in detail with you.

The ACLU protects the rights the Framers found most important. Just because they defend a particular person doesn't mean they agree with what he or she said or did.

"I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it." - Voltaire

"Better that ten guilty persons escape than that one innocent suffer." - William Blackstone

One great thing about the ACLU is that they don't care who you are. If your rights are being attacked, they will come to your defense. Rush Limbaugh? No fan of the ACLU. Well, not until he was faced with a constitutionally questionable broad search of his personal records. Then, the ACLU came to his defense and filed a brief in court to protect his privacy and his rights.

I sincerely hope that no one reading this board ever needs the assistance of the ACLU. But do know that they are defending your Constitutional rights every single day, regardless of whether you know it or want them to.

If you're interested in learning more about the ACLU, follow this link, then do your own research and make up your own mind. Don't just believe what I say about the organization, or what Bill O'reilly or anyone else says. Make up your own mind.

Actually, that's pretty good advice for *every* issue. Don't you think?

It's great advice...the trouble is, most people in this country would rather have their opinions given to them...without having to do any of the work. It leads to a world of yelling back and forth, with people truly uninformed on both sides.
