Have you ever tried using PhotoGrade for online grading??

About two years ago I picked up a used copy of PhotoGrade at the local dealer's shop. I'd never owned a copy but used it periodically when I was with someone who had a copy. I've always felt it was a well done publication with good quality pictures, ahead of it's time from the modern day internet perspective. Further, I'll be the first to admit that I have limited exposure to much U.S. Coinage. I often tend to spot grade without knowing certain strike nuances of issues and the result is a blanket grade for every issue. Enter the age of the Web where I think PhotoGrade can be invaluable.

Does anyone else use this book for online grading of coins?? Certainly it's limited to coins graded through XF and some of the Modern issues aren't covered due to the 1970 copyright, but I find it helpful within it's limitations. What would be really cool is an updated online version.

Thanks.

I use it all the time. I have 2 copies with the latest being the 18th edition (2003). I use it to grade circulated stuff I put up on EBAY and use it as a reference when buying online. It's a great book. In addition, I use books peculiar to a series to help..............Rick

I picked up my first copy when I was in Okinawa in 1971. I still have that one and use it frequently for some coins that I don't deal in too frequently. An excellent book. I concur with the comments about an online publication.
