i think it's not really a seller trying to scam in the strict sense of the word, i think it's more a case of a novice seller who is ignorant of the difference between a Proof and a business strike. they state in the description that it's a proof while at the same time they reference information that relates to the MS mintage and strike characteristics. on the funny side, since when is a mintage of (123,099,631) low??

maybe eBay needs to statr testing sellers before they let them list.

I think Keets may be right, that it's just a case of ignorance. I eMailed the seller to let him know that it's just a proof coin not worth much. He eMailed back thanking me. Now we'll see if he does anything with his new found knowledge.

  • I emailed the seller also. 1 word response ................... "thanks"

So far no change to the auction.

I contacted the seller about this coin... Keets is correct... the seller knows absolutely nothing about the difference between Mint State coins and Proof coins and the differences between strikes for the two.

He spent quite a bit of money on the listing... for a $2 coin. It should teach him something I hope...

    Follow-up to this thread...

I sent the seller of this coin another email today asking him why he continued to try to sell this coin after being told by numerous individuals what the coin was worth. My last email is listed first, then his reply.

You ever wondered that your spending more to list this coin than it's actually worth? Again, your coin is a $2 coin... when do you think another sucker will come along? I guess you just didnt get all the email you received about this coin.

Well your not going to like the fact that 2 people want to give me 200.00 for it because it is not graded so they must know something you dont os i will get my money back + more but thanks for your emails they make me feel even better to know that ill get 200.00 for it and that will not set well with you but i have to go dont have the time better things to do

Again, is it just me or do people like this hurt the hobby?

You should offer to sell them to him for $100 each.

<< <i>I just sent him a message to bid $200 on this, he can make a killing!!! >>

That's TFF Marty... Heck, I should probably bid on that roll... and then list them on the Bay of E for $100 a piece... hum... 40 x 100... are any of them slightly cameo cause they'd be DCAMs by the time my fingers finished painting them suckers. Awe heck... lets just paint them all... it's all about the money anyway... right? (Notice the slight edge of sarcasm there... huh?)

But wait... I gotta be able to sleep well at night... is it worth it? No friggin way.
