Tallboy PSA Holder Question

Recently, I purchased a 1976-77 graded basketball card off of eBay. It was an 8, and I already had a 7. I was surprised to find the interior holder of the 8 had a different appearance from the one used for the 7. The 8 did not have the four side rails the 7 did. Does anyone know if PSA ever used changed holders for tall boys at some point? Or is this just some anomaly?

    Had the same thing happen to me on a 1935 national chicle football card. The card had some movement within the holders and didn't have the rail on the left side. With your tallboy I suspect it's an error. Does the card slide around inside the psa holder?
    Running an Ebay store sure takes a lot more time than a person would think!

    The card fortunately doesn't slide, but it's missing the rail.

    Actually, the one I have is in a Mylar like holder. Apparently, PSA uses these on some issues. Maybe they were out of the regular holder at the time this card was graded?
