Economy grades in 49 days! PCI Green crackouts experiment continues...

Got 'em in 49 days! I guess they are finally starting to catch up. I'm in the middle of a PCI Green label ( 10 and 14 digit ) experiment. This batch had 5 crackouts. Overall very happy except the 15d Barber that was in a ANACS MS60 holder but it is a blue/pink toned beauty. The 1881s Morgan is also a screaming orange and blue toned GEM.

LINE # CERT # COIN DATE DENOMINATION VARIETY COUNTRY GRADE
1 21850643 1891-O S$1 USA MS63 (PCI Green 63)
2 21850644 1879-S S$1 USA MS65 (PCI Green 65)
3 21850645 1878 7TF S$1 Reverse of 1878 USA MS62 ( PCI Green 63....lucked luster, pd 62 money for it)
4 21850646 1904-O S$1 USA MS65 (PCI Green 64...Yeah!)
5 21850647 1881-S S$1 USA MS65 ( PCI green 65)
6 21850648 1915-D 50C USA AU58 ( ANACS MS60)
7 21850649 1837 50C Reeded Edge USA XF40 ( Raw from Feebay, expected possible BB, expected mid-VF)

Date Received: 12/27/2004
Date Shipped: No Date Specified

I am going to post my Green PCI Labeled experiment results in about a month. I have 15 at PCGS and 10 at NGC. Not a large enough sample to be scientific but interesting none the less. Chris

    Very nice Chris.

Chris- I don't think this shows PCI to be on the same level as PCGS but rather that you have a good enough eye to pick out the ones that would cross at PCGS- and a job well done! image mike
  • Well done! I agree that PCI green is a good source of cross-overs. I have two crackouts
in the pipe myself. I have been seeing a lack of PCI green holders on ebay in recent months.
Maybe the supply is finally drying up for these holders.

    Congtrats on the crosses.

    Agree with darktone-
Are you randomly sending in PCI crack outs, or only sending in the PQ coins?

You paid 62 money for 1878-7tf, how about the others? ( Esp the 1904-0)?

    Thanks guys!

Heywood, I have not discriminated in any matter. Every coin I've bought is sent away but realize I only buy 63 or higher so they are decent coins to start with. I pd. 50 something for the 04-O. I'm doing this more out of boredom than anything else!

Darktone, PCI ten and 14 digit coins are very close to PCGS in many cases. But ,I would avoid paying a premium on their Prooflike designated coins. Even 10 digit green holders in "PL" haven't done well in my "study"! PCGS is very strict on PL and DMPL. Chris
  • I'm doing the same thing.

It was working out well for me until my latest submission.

3 Franklin Halves, all slabbed in old 10-digit green PCI as PR67 Cameo,
all 3 returned as PCGS PR66

    GoYanks--

Yikes!, I'm debating submiting some gold-14sn Pr67 CAM Frankies. One Good shot at CAM, one weak reverse.
Still wondering, Send at same time, weak or stong first.

I agree....it shows you have a good eye.
Were there any PCI coins that you looked at, that you could have won, but they didn't look "right" to you?

The only way to do an actual experiment is to buy random PCI green insert coins and send them all in. No picking, no choosing.

But, it looks like you got some nice ones from this.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
