Colored Chinese Silver Panda Coins

I am a collector of Chinese silver panda coins. I have seen colored Chinese silver panda coins for auctions. To the best of my knowledge, the China Mint issued officially only 5 colored silver pandas, dated 1997, 1998 and 1999. However, I have been told that an European mint colored the silver pandas for the following years. Could anyone please tell me which mint did the coloration for those silver panda coins after 1999?

  • Welcome to the boards, Alien99.

Don't know who did the coloration for it, but they also modified the coin in the process - they have polished off a lot of the detail on the obverse of the coin (blech!!!!).

I doubt that a European mint colorized this one. Unfortunately, it has become somewhat popular for "artists" to do so and sell them (usually on eBay) for a sizable markup. This looks to be one of that sort. For most coin collectors, such after-mint alteration renders it worth only melt (at best).
