Do planchet flaws affect the grade/desirability of a coin?

Does a planchet flaw (nothing extremely noteworthy) impact the pricing of a coin, say, from the mid 19th century (assume it's a gold coin). I am guessing that every single planchet wasn't perfect back then, so I would think the price or value of a coin should not be impacted much, but I may be wrong. What do you think? What if the flaw was well hidden in the design?
