Need some advice on a new digital camera...

I am about to take the plunge and buy a new digital camera. Right now, I am using a Nikon coolpix 3100. It's a great camera. I really like it. Its macro is good too. I just want to upgrade. Now that I have been taking pics of coins for a while, I've gotten just about the best I can out of my camera and I need more. So, I have "surfin' " the net and I have found that I can get a Nikon 5400 for $199 after the rebate. Before I click buy, I would like some personal experience on the 5400. I was about to buy a 5700 until I read a thread here about how it doesn't take pics of coins as well as the 5400. I know this topic has been beaten to death, but I would like just a little more input.

TIA!

Stacy

Anyone wanna buy a Nikon Coolpix 3100 with camera case, rechargeable batteries, battery recharger and I even think the original box, papers, and software? image

5400 is a good camera. I used to use mine for coins but have since moved on to a D70.

Eric "made" me go get a Nikon 5400.
There is a $200 rebate going on with it right now.
However, if you have a Costco nearby, the $200 rebate is instant.

I haven't played overly much with it in the last week (kid just had a birthday party on Saturday and that has eaten a lot of time) but it does seem nice on the coin pics.
I just need to get the right lighting.

So, the 5400 seems nice and is ~$300 after rebate. Not too shabby.

Full disclosure....I own stock in Costco, so go buy a lot there image

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

  • Where can you purchase it and get the $200 dollar rebate.....other than Costco since I don't have a membership????
