Odd Question from Ebay member...what do you think?

I won an auction for a box topper pack on ebay...one of the ones in the silver celophane wrap...got an email from an ebay member....
"HELLO, I NOTICED THAT YOU RECENTLY WON A 2005 TOPPS CHROME TOPPER PACK. I AM A BASEBALL WRAPPER COLLECTOR AND I DON'T HAPPEN TO HAVE THIS PARTICULAR WRAPPER. I DON'T KNOW IF YOU INTEND ON OPENING THIS PACK. BUT IF SO, I WOULD BE INTERESTED IN JUST THE EMPTY WRAPPER. IF AVAILABLE PLEASE LET ME KNOW."

Can they open and reseal these? I have opened a couple before and they can be a b*tch to open. Or when you do open them, they tear so easily.

I would lean towards the idea that they might actually collect wrappers.

You can check their Ebay bidding history [and sales history] to see if that garners any insight as to a pack resealer and seller or a wrapper collector....

I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

I don't know - aren't those wrappers fairly plain anyway? They are not like traditional baseball pack wrappers, as they are inside boxes only. My guess is he wants it to reseal something in it. The numbers of people doing this on Ebay are growing rapidly (most of those "guaranteed game used / auto packs are resealed).

  • He probably collects wrappers. But,why is he yelling? I hate it when people type in all caps.
  • A lot of guys want a wrapper from every set they build. Maybe that's the case here. Reseal is very hard to do with those.
Running an Ebay store sure takes a lot more time than a person would think!

Thanks for your thoughts everyone. I think I'll let someone else provide the wrapper for him. I see no reason for him not to buy an unopened pack himself.

The pack only cost me 6.00! Im sure he can part with that. I mean, I could tell me that I would need 3.00 and I'll ship the wrapper for free? LOL
