Ebay 5¢ Listing Day Sale

A Message from Bill Cobb – 5¢ Listing Day Sale***
Date: 02/13/05 Time: 07:00:02 PM PST

Bill Cobb

Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day and we want to show you some love!
I’d like to announce a special one-day 5¢ Listing Day Sale tomorrow (Monday). Insertion fees for auction-style and Fixed Price format listings on eBay.com, eBay Motors (for non-vehicles listings) and eBay.ca will be a nickel. All other fees will be at the standard rates. You can get all the details here. For information about the promotion on eBay.ca, click here.

eBay’s success is based on the success of our buyers and sellers. We understand this, and we’re working hard to put those words into action more than ever before. I know a one-day sale is a small gesture, but I hope it helps.

Happy Valentine’s Day from all of us at eBay.

Regards,
Bill

P.S. This one’s for wendel22 and Libby.

RIP Snow

I love the 5 cent days... all kinds of hard-to-find cards come out of the woodwork. While most are overly expensive, even since eBay changed cheap listing day to also allow auction format rather than only fixed price, some cards can be had at very good prices.
  • its not a nickel! i'm trying to list cards & its the reg rates!

Get ready for a load of crap to hit Ebay tommorrow - it seems like if you list something good it gets lost in the shuffle on these type of days.

  • Ditto, I just hope idiots are listing so much stuff, they screw up and list a decent card with a ridiculously low Buy-it-Now
  • 5 cent listing day is cool. But do you want to have an auction end on Monday or wed? I guess you can do the 5 day listing, that makes the most sense. However, I don't like to cut my listings that short.
Running an Ebay store sure takes a lot more time than a person would think!

I sometimes think that, but then I consider that I usually don't look for anything beyond 3-5 days ahead...
  • Bah, I found last week's 25 cent border sale more profitable.

Ending auctions on weekdays is no less successful than weekends, if you schedule it to end during ebay's primetime usage hours in the evening.
  • good point on ending listing at night. Sometimes I just list items whenever I can and say forget it! If it sells it sells, I do try to avoid holiday weekends as end dates though.

Why is it that every free/cheap listing day, I'm reminded of the line from Monty Python and the Holy Grail: "Bring out your dead! <clang> Bring out your dead!"

All the cheap dealers mark up their goods and put them on ebay on reduced price lsiting days.
  • I am hardly a dealer, but I should throw some lots on there. At least if they dont' sell it's only 5 cents.

What a surprise that this load of overpriced garbage got put up again today.

It's the same crap that didn't sell last free listing day or the free listing day before that one or the free listing day before that one or ....
