I went to the coin show today after a monthlong separation form coin shows due to the weather - the powdery white stuff commonly known as snow. What was my impression? The coin show was HOT. It was very HOT, between room heating system, lamps, and people the room was extremely HOT, don't worry the show was hot as well, lots of activities buying and selling (I've seen; so did Darin and some random guy with New York Yankees hat) a dealer with a HUGE stack of GSA CC dolars, and a couple od SEALED pre 1955 proof sets (not for sale grr...). I bought a ton of coins, I'll image them and post them later today. I went to that one deaer twice the first time I bought some proof and mint sets. The second time around I stopped to lok at some morgans. I was browsing for the TOP100 (without much luck), I went the other way around going from 1921 to 1878. I almost gave up when I came across this 1878 7/8 TF

Decent stuff was selling and for good prices too. The activity seemed quite upbeat but as usual, there just wasn't enough fresh quality coins to be had. There were quite a few later date proofs sets being offered up. Though I wasn't there I had a few coins sent up and 2 of them sold. I was pleased with that, especially since they brought more than I would have asked on my own. Sometimes it helps to have a disinterested 3rd party sell on one's behalf. That takes the emotional attachment out of the equation.
And no doubt about it, some people are just better at selling than others. They have the ability to read the buyer better and to either deflect counters or start stronger.

Without getting too specific, it was very, very busy. The type of busy where if you looked at a coin, passed, and figured you could come back in a little while with a counter offer for that coin, and it was a decent looking coin, it had a good chance of being sold.
It was nice speaking with the board members that made the trip and even bought and sold a coin or two with them.
The usual suspects were missing, so it's either sailing season already, a big hockey game going on, or there was some major league beauty sleep being caught up on.
Oh yes, Cameron I have a coin for you. PM coming..........

sadysta1's coins look even better in hand.
Good to see sadysta1 and BigD5 again.
Darrin, I hope you like that 26-S 5c. Thanks again!
Sorry if I didn't get a chance to meet any other board members.
I stayed away from anything over $50 but I bought a several raw full-step/nearly full-step (5FS?) Jeffs and a raw WWII with nice reverse rainbow toning.
I also bought two FB modern Roosies that look 67 or better, I hope.
The only certified coin was a 1965 MS66 SMS 50c that I paid $15 for.
I wound up spending just under $60. The advanatge of collecting moderns.
There was a 1901-O Morgan with a little rim toning in an old 63 PCGS rattler that I could have had for $47.50 but I passed. I'm not ready to start collecting Morgans. That's a costly endeavor that I won't get around to until my nickels, dimes, and cents are done.
It was nice to look/buy coins sight-seen for a change. As for the heat, I was looking at several pages of Jeffs/Roosies under a hot lightbulb. That and smell of the plastic page flaps was making me so nauseous I had to get a piece of mint gum from the dealer.
This was my first coin show since the Auburn show in late August of 2004 and my second since the mid 1980s.
