If you die without a will...

If you die without a will:

(1) What happens to the contents of a safe deposit box?

(2) How is it decided who gets your coins?

(3) Will the person who eventually gets your collection have to pay tax on the collection's worth at the time of your death?

Anybody?

Dan

  • Answer: probate court decides. That's why you want a will.

My brother Mark has a key (and signature privileges) to my SDB. I told him if I die, empty the box immediately and never tell anyone what was in there. NO WAY he is gonna pay death taxes on my shinny metal.
