the high bidder budbeer2078 is either a shill or the dumbest person on earth. in his discription the seller of this fake says:"looks and feels old from the paper stock." he must have found some old paper to use in his lazer printer.
A day without a Mantle scam is like a day without sunshine.
Low feedback + poor feedback + "I don't know the card's value" + "I am willing to end auction early" + shill bids + sharp corners = one unhappy buyer, if he's real. At least the scam this time is only $610.
Of course it's a scam, but the scams have really cooled off since the days of last summer when I first started tracking them. The biggest scammers are out of business, and the majority now are small-time petty theives like broadwayblueshirt94, tandaexpresscardshoppe & jimbom1234. In June and July, the scams were totally upwards of $80K a month, now they are between 15-20K/month. You would think even the most ignorant people would question why so many of the 1952 Mantle cards they see listed on eBay look significantly different from one another, let alone have to pick out which ones look real (hint: none of the raw ones are ever real except once or twice a year).
Let's not forget, in Fantasyland (aka: eBay) they grow on trees like apples & oranges.
The missing pixel is only on the variation with the "butchered" name box.
The mantle card was double printed. Those two cards on the sheet were different. One them the name box was "pretty" and stiches on the baseball on the back pointed to the left. The other the name box was "butchered" missing pixel, and the baseball on back pointed to the right. Along with acouple other differnces.

I sent you a PM. I only sell access on eBay to cover fees and lend credibility to it. I had a couple complaints after people realized they could get the link to access it off this message board, so I had to change it to alleviate the problem. If you would like to read the guide, PM me.
I remember reading the guide before the author starting charging for it. That is his prerogative to charge for it and he offered it free to Kuhlmann and that was cool. From what I remember about the guide it was well done and informative.
My feeling has always been, not only regarding 52 Mantles but any expensive card, most times, if not every time, figuring out the seller's "intentions" is much more important than trying to figure out if the card on ebay is real or not - especially because of stolen scans. Some of the CU members here are outstanding at figuring out scams and a lot can be learned from them. I brought a lot of knowledge in when joining the forum and have also learned much from this forum as well. I learn a little something new almost every day here.
I'm like Kuhlmann in that one day wanting a 52 Mantle and in fact I have put a pretty good dent into my Topps 52 set - long way to go yet - no Mantle, Mathews, etc., yet. I enjoy shopping for baseball card "bargains" on ebay and am also a seller. But when I finally come around to buying a 52 Mantle, I'm not going to look for such a bargain - I'm just gonna buy a PSA graded card from a very highly reputable dealer.

The seller is WRONG about it being Mick's rookie card !
1951 Bowman is the real Mantle rookie, Mays also. The 52 Bowman is not, nor is the much more popular 52 Topps.
