It's a beautiful piece and not in my collection yet. However, it *is* a restrike, probably circa 1880-1950, and is already at a price where you can probably purchase a new strike from the Paris mint today. I really wish they had continued changing the edge marks with each new mint director. Everything from 1830 to 1880 can be pretty precisely dated using the edge marks the dealer mentions. After 1950 or so they started adding the year struck but there's an annoying 70 year period there where you have to guess based primarily on patina.
If I were to guess on this piece I'd say about 1880-1890, after that period a really greenish tinge shows up for about 3 decades. Thanks for keeping an eye open for me guys...
