Moon Money SMS Sets

I just wanted to bring up the fact that many of the SMS sets on ebay that show a promising chance for a CAM or DCAM are going for rediculus prices. Some are just CAMs and not even worth the money. The crazy thing is that this has just started over the past month. December was actually slow. example.
I must say though that I am happy that kennedys are getting more attention.

    Thanks for the link.

It is a nice Kennedy but it seems a little risky to pay that kind of money on the basis of the picture alone. It will be well worth it if it's nice and clean.

    It's not.

True. If it is a DCAM then that is awesome. But pics are often misleading

Marty have you ever asked a seller to end an auction early to get something you wanted for cheap? Would you guys think it unfair to do so?

I haven't, but there are board members here who do it all the time...

That one has a ways to go before it gets to the level of this one.

Hell, I did it in the auction you linked. image As soon as it went live I eMailed the seller and asked her to add a BIN while there were no bids. By the time she got back to me, there were already bids so it was too late.

The money is already wrong on that one. image Here is the reverse of the coin you linked. A few days ago, R & I listed an NGC MS65 Cam with a BIN of $90 that was a much nicer coin, based on the pics. Hard to see through the haze, but I count this coin MS66 (maybe) Cam with a good bath. I'm still watching it to see how strong it closes based on the obverse pic, but the bid's past me.

    Link to the other 65.

Welcome to the conversation, Ca0100000. I see you ARE the first bidder. image Always a pleasure to meet another SMS collector. image

I have and can put together some cameo SMS sets with the fruits of my cherrypicking over the years.

Do you think I could get moon money if I sold on ebay 1965, 1966 and 1967 sets where all five coins in each set are at least CAM and some are DCAM? How much would these type of assembled sets bring if the sets were photographed and displayed in correct lighting with the full cameo effect being shown?

Well if I saw a set with nothing but what looks like DCAMS and CAMS then I would think you were just good at taking pics and would pass up your auction. Now if you said that you guaranteed them to be up to my standard then yeah, you would get moon money. If you wanted to make more then I guess it would be good to buy 15 SMS sets and in each one put
    the cam or dcam.
