My Dansco 7070 so far (large pic)

Baley was my inspiration and his recent update made me finally get mine out and take some pics of it (so far). Still a LONG ways to go with 20 empty holes and a lifetime of upgrades ahead! But a very enjoyable way to learn about different issues of coins and a neat albumn that shows well to friends and family.

thanks for posting it!
What are your empty holes? Looks like you are well along on that set!
Nice toning on the T-2 Buff and the Washington-Carver. Cool chopmarks on the Trade dollar.
Let's see... you need some Capped Bust coinage... and a Seated dollar...
That settles it.
You guys are gonna make me do it again, for the fourth time. I have two new 7070's and I guess I'll just hafta use one of them myself.
I'll post some progress pics later.
Nice set!
LM, I bet you could fill a 7070 in no time.

Yes- in very little time. I have a Seated dollar, plenty of Bust coins including some AU halves, a crappy 20c piece, a couple of 2c pieces, a PCGS XF45 Flying eagle cent, and so on, in my inventory. But I wouldn't be much of a threat to Baley's dominance for a long, long time. I could fill some holes up quickly, but that's about it. Some of the coins would be beauties and some would be blah. It wouldn't be a very well-matched set.
Maybe that's why I shouldn't do it. I would just end up competing with my own customers for the better pieces. I wanna have a well-rounded inventory (at least for the small-potatoes antique mall booth I run), but it wouldn't be as well-rounded if I constantly cherrypicked the nicer stuff for myself.
I don't want a conflict of interest. But dang, all this Dansco 7070 talk has sure brought out fond memories for me.
Guess I should start working on the Dansco Swiss Confederation type set I have instead. Yeah. That's the ticket. It's the Swiss equivalent of the 7070. And some of their designs look a lot like Barber/Morgan designs.
No particular reason - like lordmarcovan said, a mix/match of coins that I already had to fill the empty holes. I got this albumn about 6 months ago and most of the coins were loose in flips. And some (like the commems) were either AU or lower MS that I cracked out.
I don't think I have ever bought a post-1964 coin that wasn't a proof (modern crap )
This set is a blast to work on and as you mention, is a great way to show coins to non-collectors; it gives an overview of the history of US coinage (abridged, yes, but still pretty good), it shows the major design changes and evolution of each denomination, it displays and protects the coins really well (if reasonable care is taken when sliding the slides) and it stores the coins in a compact and convenient holder (can carry it like a book, much easier than a mixed box of loose flips and slabs)
Looking forward to seeing additions to your set, I really like the toning on the merc dime, T2 slg and wash quarter, and 1964 half.
