New Camera- First Pics

Just picked up a Nikon Coolpix 4800. Here's the first coin pic I took. I had this 1888 Seated Dime setting on my desk and decided to give the macro mode a try. I didn't fiddle w/ any of the camera's settings, these are the macro settings straight out of the box. What do you guys think?

Nice little piece. It looks like you could use some more light, and the white balance appears off.

Nice for a first picture. You will find that for macro work, the camera must be absolutely still. You will want to go to a tripod or maybe an inexpensive copy stand.

The white balance is off. Took the shot straight outta the box! I'm gonna start monkeying around with W.B. and the tripod in a couple minutes.

Frank, check your manual and see if you have a white balance selection for preset. If you do, that's the best way to go. Instructions will be in the manual.

curious-what was the original white balance setting? how'd you let more light in-more lamps?
