NEWP - Guess the Grade! - Liberty Walking Half - GRADE REVEALED

Alright folks,

I've never posted a new P, mostly because I only have a scanner, and this is the first P that has had a decent pic. Guess the Grade and How Much I Paid! I'll let you know later tonight.

Looks like an AU58 to me, but i'm probably looking at flatly-struck areas and imagining I see rub.

    Nice luster.

I have a similar-looking piece in an ANACS MS61 holder that I cannot understand the grade on... it looks far better to me. I think mine should be a 62 or low-end 63. Guess that's what I'll shoot for on yours, though my first impression was still AU58.

How much did you pay? I have no idea, but maybe you "stole" it and wanna brag a little, eh? image

    MS65
    When in doubt, don't.
  • I'll go out on a limb and say it's in a MS66 holder. Some thumb separation... sun rays are strong & no ticks in the area... decent head features... & only one distracting mark below the *T* in Liberty. The reverse is clean and breast feather detail is there. I'll also guess you paid $150.00.

lemme guess MS64, nice coin but a couple marks and a touch of "roll friction" on the highpoints.

    $50?

I like the coin. I am going to say MS65 with a shot at 66. The fields are quite clean, nice color, above average strike with thumb separation and the leg does not have much in the way of distracting marks. I should add that this is a date that comes nice. Congrats... it is a great addition to any collection

  • Alright, it's an ANACS MS63. I scored it on Heritage for a rockin $22 + fees.

I thought that this coin looked undergraded and pretty nice. The strike looks a little mushy to me, but the surface preservation looks brilliant. If the luster is as good as I think it will be, I think this will be a great coin! Baley was close, but jimmieboi hit it pretty much right on the nose. It'll be crossing over to a PCGS slab sooner or later. I think when I get it, it's going to be a steal of a gem, or it's going to be a total dog. Regardless, I'm in love with the coin and I hope it's as nice as the photo makes it out to be.

    Thanks for the comments!

Had a hunch you'd made a nice "bargain buy" and wanted to crow about it. image

I was partially right, despite my first impression. I thought the "rub" I was seeing might be flat strike.

I wish I had pics of my MS61. It has the same luster as yours and frankly looks to be about the same quality, at least to the naked eye. I haven't scoped it with a loupe. I think I paid about what you did for your 63, so you got a good deal. Mine is almost certainly undergraded.
