For those who wanted to see my autographs...

Some of you mentioned that you wanted to see some of my Autograph collection on 3x5 index cards. Well I finally got my scanner working and scanned a few random ones. Most are HOF'ers. No huge names, but I have those too, still coming. Let me know what yo uthink or if you have any names you are looking for. I have 340 duplicates that I am going to be selling.

These are all on ebay right now. I put them up just to get a feel as to how buyers will respond to a seller that has virtually no feedback for a few years.

Those are really nice autos! The cards are in fantastic shape. The Chas. Gehringer looks a lot like this pic.
I think they would bring more and sell easier if they were authenticated?

Those are some of the nicest index cards I have ever seen - it looks like they took their time signing them!

    Good luck

  • Thanks Mike,

Hopefully your sentiments will be the same as others. I have lots of these. The collection that I bought out of Cambrige, Mass was from a gentleman that collected them in the early 1950's. He said that the box that they were in when I bought them was the same box they had been in for all 50 years. They had not been out and looked at since the 50's. That could explain the condition. As far as my eyes can tell, they all appear to be similar to know authentic examples that I have seen in books. I have thought about getting them PSA/DNA certified, but at $20 to $75 a piece, 340 cards would be a LARGE amout to front. Still thinking about it though.

  • If I'm not mistaken, you can get all the 3 x 5 index cards you want graded and slabbed for $20. I don't think you have to be any premium on these. Great looking cards! It's amazing how Gehringer's sig looks almost identical on everything I've seen...

Gehringer's penmanship is unbelievable. I'd be interested in him and the Appling.
  • Well guys, it was to good to be true. I have spent all night trying to figure out why my scanner, which worked fine last night, now will not scan anything. ALl I get is a black screen when I scan. Its pretty much driving me nutty.

I did look and found that PSA/DNA could be done for $20. But still, 340 times $20 is $6800. I dont know if the whole collection is worth that much.

When I first saw a Gehringer auto, I thought it was fake, just because its so neat. But all his signatures are that way. I wonder if its easier to counterfit, or maybe harder, because of his impecible penmanship?

Mudflap, if you are interested in those two, they are up on ebay right now. I have more of those 2 names though. We can talk. Some of the names I put up today were the heaviest duplicated ones in my collection. If they go for only a few dollars, I wont feel too bad because I have replacements.

Right now Im just trying to find out whats up with the scanner. I have some original photos from the 1996 Christies/Baseball Magazine Archive auction that Im trying to get some info on, and its not going well. Probably will end up buying a new scanner tomorrow. havnt even sold anything yet to pay for it. Such is life I guess.

I will look at the Chas card on you ebay sale - if anyone else is serious LMK - don't need to get in a bidding war!LOL
On the Chas G. card - he has a free flowing auto that looks natural and not slowly written and there doesn't seem to be false start/stop marks of someone trying to copy the sig. - plus the end of the sig. flows into the air and thins out - you would not see that if someone with a heavy hand was trying to copy it.
I'm not an expert or very great at this - just stuff I have read - plus I know what PSA/DNA writes on their written COA's.

Thanx for putting this stuff up
    has made my night
I really like cards but I also like to see different things
it's like by now - you guys are probably tired of Shana Hiatt and the Bling bling sling! image

  • Charlie Gehringer has a great autograph that was sharp and consistent through the years. The only potential issue with this one you have is that the second "G" in his last name comes to a point straight down and it doesn't continue on into the "E". This is a 1935 sample that has been Psa/Dna authenticated.
