1939 jefferson nickel - rev of 38 or rev of 40?

Would someone out there tell me where to look (website),
or post a link to a site that tells me how to tell the difference
on the reverses of the 1939 Jefferson Nickels?

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Sam...

Don't have pictures handy, but the reverse of 38 has wavy steps that are not well defined. The reverse of 40 has well defined and straight steps.

Go to the Heritage auction archives, select an R38 coin and enlarge the reverse photos. Then repeat the process with an R39 coin. The difference becomes quite obvious once you've seen them.
    When in doubt, don't.
  • Thanks guys!

    I appreciate it a lot!
