Morgan VAM - value for 1921 VAM-3A (not in top 100)?

I have a MS66 1921 Morgan (VAM 3A Spiked tail feathers) and wondered if it has any additional value since it is not one of the top 100 VAM's?

Thanks,
Charlie

  • Sorry. I haven't seen any sell on Ebay lately. Do you know if it's a 3A or one of the newer varieties... 3A1 or 3A2?
3A1 has a rounded die gouge at top of the R in DOLLAR.
3A2 has a die gouge in the second L of DOLLAR.

I don't have a list describing the 3A1 and 3A2 newer varieties, but this coin has a couple of die cracks at the top of the R in dollar and one going to the right from the R to a Star.

I did find this raw one on eBay that sold for less than $100, so maybe it isn't a very rare variety and not worth much of a premium.

There's a new 3A3 as well. Third gouge through L of DOLLAR. Rob Joyce has every one!

    Charlie,

Is your coin certified MS66? Just curious. The two pieces I won I did not pay a premium for (see my sig line for one of them image), but then again, I try to cherrypick most of my VAMs. The one in my sign line is VAM 3A3. The other one I own is 3A2.

FYI, several months ago, an ANACS graded MS62 VAM 3A3 sold on eBay for about $65.00. There was only one other bidder other than myself. The starting price was $60.00 and I bid $64.00 or so. I was outbid at the last minute for $65.00 or whatever it was.

If yours is slabbed, who slabbed it if I may ask? Inquiring minds want to know. image
