I think you need another light to bring out the lustre on the bottom portion of the coin. If possible, shoot without the airtite... it'll be much easier.

- Focal plane is "good" but could be a tad better
- Lighting needs to be diffused better - try more light sources and less intense lights or sunlight - and/or shoot your shot through an angled piece of glass (change the angle and the light until you remove the glare

I'd add a second light. Will get more even lighting.

Focus looks good but I'd enjoy the pic more if less exposed. More color would show and could still catch that coin's great luster.
Now if you bracket your coin pics with 2 separate shots like airplanenut does yours is an awesome luster shot but pass me the sunglasses

sorry sscamaro, K6's morgan caught my attention. Definitely take it out of the airtite, raw coin photography is an absolute joy when you are used to struggling with crappy plastic between you and it

Nice pic, I'm assuming it's a first with your new camera, loose the airtight , play with the lights and before you know it the pics will look as good as Erics'
